'Inimim Forest Restoration Project

Implementation
The 'Inimim Forest Restoration Project covers 1,300 acres of Bureau of Land Management land in northwest Nevada County, north of the South Yuba River. This project aims to restore and manage forest ecosystems to enhance resilience against disturbances anticipated over the next century. The project's goals include reestablishing historical forest structures, increasing biodiversity, reducing wildfire risks, and protecting soil productivity through various treatment methods, such as mechanical thinning, manual thinning, and prescribed burns.

Pillars of Resilience

Pillars of Resilience

Reduce risk of catastrophic fire; preserve special-status species habitat
Reduce risk of emissions from catastrophic fire; improve carbon storage capacity by increasing growth of large retained trees
Reduce fire hazard in WUI
Reintroduction of prescribed fire
Thinning to promote increased resilience; restoration of historical range of variation
Reduce risk of increased erosion from high intensity fire scars
