Pillars of Resilience
Fire Adapted Communities
Climate change and other factors increase wildfire threats, especially in the wildland-urban interface. Fire-adapted communities are informed and proactive, accepting fire as part of the landscape. They take action to reduce vulnerability and adapt to live safely with fire.
The goal is for communities to safely coexist in forested landscapes, recognizing fire's role in maintaining healthy forests. They should have the capacity to effectively suppress wildfire.
