Forest Resilience
Basics
Goal Description
The goal of forest resilience centers on nurturing ecosystems that are durable and adaptable, equipped to face challenges like climate change, wildfires, pests, and diseases. This endeavor aims at maintaining the ecological balance, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring the sustainability of these vital resources. Strategies to achieve this include post-fire restoration to rebuild after wildfires, fuels reduction to mitigate fire risks, integrated pest and disease management to maintain ecosystem health, and aspen regeneration to promote biodiversity. These measures collectively strive to bolster the natural defenses of forests, enabling them to withstand and recover from disturbances. Enhancing forest resilience is crucial for sustaining their ecological functions, such as carbon storage, water filtration, and providing habitats for wildlife, while also supporting human needs and protecting communities from natural disasters.
