Clancy-Pohl Sensitive Land Acquisition
Implementation
The State of NV through the NV Land Bank acquired 7.67 acres of sensitive land in the Granite Springs Subdivision in Lower Kingsbury, Douglas County in 2017. Edgewood Creek flows through the lower portion of the parcel. The land was verified by TRPA as land capability districts 1b, 1a, 2, 4, and 6 and contains 22,483 square feet of existing/potential land coverage. Existing land coverage/disturbance is being restored using several available funding sources. Land coverage/disturbance restored with TRPA Excess Mitigation Funds will be permanently retired. The NV Land Bank is permanently retiring the parcel from future development and managing the parcel for environmental benefits.

Seeding and mulching was applied over 2 acres. BMP erosion control measures were removed from site. Several potential hazard tree snags were removed. | ||
| 12/27/2022 10:40 AM | System | During the month of October 2022 NDSL removed 3,084 square feet of non-permeable asphalt surface from the state-owned forested parcel in Douglas County off of Highway 207. Compost was delivered to the site to improve the underlying soils, and snow interspaces were seeded in November of 2022. Seeding treatments will be reapplied in the Spring of 2023 and native conifer seedlings will be planted in the restoration area. | ||
| 01/06/2022 10:42 AM | System | The parcel had a large hole for a building pad when it was acquired. NDSL was able to utilize soil from the Lake Tahoe Basin excavated for the Spooner Front Country Improvements Phase 1 Visitor Center and Amphitheater project to fill in the excavation of the building pad. Once the foundation was filled in it was graded to match the contour of the surrounding land. After the grading was complete BMP measures were installed which included a silt fence, straw waddles, and pine straw mulch. A seed mix of a native vegetation was applied to the treated area. Spotted Knapweed was found on the parcel in October 2021 along the road corridor leading into the parcel. The spotted knapweed was hand pulled and disposed of in double bagged heavy duty garbage bags. Cheatgrass was hand pulled in June 2021 by members of the Nevada Tahoe Resource Team and properly disposed of properly. | ||
| 01/15/2021 3:35 PM | System | In September 2020, the Nevada Tahoe Resource Team monitored the ninety-five Jeffrey and Ponderosa pine seedlings that were transplanted in 2019 and documented less than 5% mortality rate. Cheatgrass was hand pulled in the road corridor and disposed of in heavy duty plastic trash bags. | ||
| 01/08/2020 10:50 AM | System | Utility removal and transplanting took place during spring and summer 2019 (Phase 1 of restoration). Electrical wiring, bollards, a transformer box, concrete pad, two concrete vaults, and conduit (sewer, water, and electric) were excavated/removed from the utility corridor on site (1/4 acre). Ninety-five Jeffrey and Ponderosa pine seedlings were transplanted from the disturbed building pad area to the steep slope on site uphill of Edgewood Creek in an effort to stabilize soils and reduce erosion (outplanting on 1 acre). Additional restoration treatments to return the building pad cut slope to grade, seed, and remove and restore the asphalt driveway are planned for summer 2020. | ||

Trees that have established in the building pad area and have a high likelyhood of survival will be transplanted in Spring 2019. Once coverage is verified by TRPA as banked, NDSL will retire coverage purchased with TRPA Excess Land Coverage Mitigation Fees. | ||
