Sustainable Recreation and Natural Resource Stewardship

Back to all Focus Areas.

Basics

Sustainable Recreation and Natural Resource Stewardship

The focus area of Sustainable Recreation and Natural Resource Stewardship is dedicated to balancing public enjoyment of natural areas with the preservation of ecological integrity. This initiative promotes responsible recreation and conservation practices to ensure long-term environmental health and sustainability. Key goals include expanding public access to natural spaces, upgrading and maintaining recreational facilities, securing conservation easements, acquiring critical habitats, and advocating for stronger policy protections. Additionally, it integrates transportation planning with trail management to enhance accessibility and promote eco-friendly travel. By fostering a harmonious relationship between recreational activities and environmental stewardship, this focus area aims to enhance public appreciation of nature while safeguarding natural resources for future generations.
