Meeks Bay Ecosystem Restoration (Planning & Design)
Planning/Design
The Meeks Bay restoration project involves the planning for the future of the marina, as well as restoration of the Meeks Creek lagoon. The shallow warm waters create a breeding ground for Aquatic Invasive Species. The desired condition is to restore the lagoon to a natural condition while providing a recreation experience which is lighter on the landscape. In addition to current camping and day use recreation opportunities, the desired condition may include facilities and accommodations for motorized and non-motorized boating in Meeks Bay and upgrades to facilities. Phase 1 (planning & design) est. $2 million; Phase 2 (implementation and Hwy 89 bridge replacement) est. $11 million.
