Regan Beach Enhancement and Accessibility Improvement Project

Planning/Design
The project will focus on a crucial segment of Phase 1, known as Regan Landing, to enhance both access and user experience. Planned improvements include creating a more welcoming pedestrian zone with upgraded pathways, redesigning the drop-off area for smoother vehicle access and safety, and enhancing ADA-compliant features. Additionally, the project will install new restrooms and a concession stand, establish designated picnic and barbecue areas with fixed seating, and provide SUP rental storage for residents. Landscaping enhancements will further beautify the park and promote a more sustainable environment.

Notes

09/25/2024 6:53 PM System The Regan Beach Enhancement and Accessibility Improvement Project aims to transform Regan Beach in South Lake Tahoe by significantly enhancing recreational opportunities and addressing critical infrastructure needs. This project aligns with the California Tahoe Conservancy’s goals by focusing on improving public access, scenic views, advancing climate adaptation, and achieving organizational excellence.

The initiative is designed to improve community safety, strengthen ecological health, and modernize recreational amenities. By implementing the proposed enhancements, we aim to provide lasting benefits to the South Lake Tahoe community, creating a beach experience that is more accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable. The City of South Lake Tahoe plans to achieve these objectives through targeted improvements detailed in the Regan Beach Rehabilitation Plan and the ADA Transition Plan.

Regan Beach has served the South Lake Tahoe community since the early 20th century. Covering approximately 6.2 acres with about 2,000 feet of shoreline, this public park is a key recreational and social center. To preserve its significance and ensure its future, essential improvements are needed to update and maintain the park's infrastructure and amenities.
