Planning/Design
The North Tahoe Shared-Use Trail will enhance the safety of bicyclists and improve traffic flow along SR 28 by removing recreational cyclists and commuters, and will connect residential neighborhoods to commercial, tourism, and recreational facilities between Tahoe Vista and Tahoe City. Segment 1 is a 2.5-mile paved trail, providing separate utility connecting the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista to the community of Carnelian Bay.

01/12/2024 10:44 AM System In Final Design phase - will award the design contract this spring,
02/10/2023 11:20 AM System Design plans are currently at 50% level, pending review by Caltrans and confirmation of easement from NTPUD.

CEQA Mitigated Negative Declaration was approved with a Notice of Determination dated June 16, 2022 from the State Clearinghouse.
10/05/2022 4:41 PM System Waiting for an easement /MOU from the NTPUD to move forward with PE.

Three phases of the North Tahoe Trail;
Segment 1 - $6,000,000
Flick Point II - $4,000,000 (western part of trail)
Middle Segment - $2,000,000 (connect Carnelian Bay community)
05/21/2014 6:01 PM System Due to environmental constraints, this project will be restructured to allow for construction of shorter segments with a programatic plan. In addition, the California Tahoe Conservancy or another agency will take the lead for the environmental review portion of the project.
